Many of you are already aware that numerous dental insurance companies are now receiving dental claims electronically through computer lines, thus speeding up the procedure (and eliminating a lot of the paper and aggravation) for everyone. Please come to the office with all necessary information on your dental insurance. There are many new techniques in Dentistry coming to the forefront. One such technology is Air Abrasion, which is already available in our office. A very small sandblasting device the size of a ballpoint pen can sometimes be used in place of the dental drill. It can be used with out the need of local anesthetic. Its an exciting new device for select situations.

Hate getting numb? Well, we can't always avoid this but now it may be much easier to have it done. We are now using a new device for giving local anesthetic for dental treatment. It doesn't look like anything we ever used before. A small wand places a small needle into the tissue and, by using a very low amount of pressure, oozes the anesthetic in and around the teeth. It's very comfortable and the kids have been doing great with it. Also, a new medication is available - Septocaine - it works faster and we use less too!

The newest technology we have in our office is a Digital Radiography system. This machine uses film-like sensors instead of the actual film. No developing time or chemicals are needed. They appear on a computer screen within minutes and use substantially less radiation. The images can be stored for future use or they can be printed out for mailing.

The advancement in dental materials for making teeth prettier has moved forward very rapidly. The Resin Bonding has already helped with traumatic fractures to front teeth. As the children finish growing, Porcelain Veneers and Crowns complete the treatment of front teeth problems. In combination with orthodontics, we can now give all children a great smile.

Many of you are aware that early orthodontic treatment can often intercept severe problems before they occur. Orthodontic treatment is available in our office for many of the common crowding problems. Please ask!
